## Industry Trends
In the US, material prices have held steady, but looming tariffs on imports from China, Canada, and Mexico threaten to inflate costs significantly, potentially adding around $30K to the cost of constructing an average home.
**Canada** is bracing for the impact of the US's impending tariffs and their retaliatory 25% tariffs on $155 billion worth of US goods.
Australia faces slow sales and cost pressures, including rising expenses and labour shortages, leading to project delays. The government’s goal to build 1.2 million new homes in five years calls for streamlined regulations and more support. A push for unified modular construction codes aims to speed up prefab home building.
New Zealand is facing challenges with high inflation and elevated costs. Despite a downturn in home consents by 25% year on year, a recovery in demand is expected later this year.
